GJP ArtificiaI Intelligence Initiative

The Global Justice Program’s AI initiative at Yale University is an interdisciplinary endeavor dedicated to understanding and shaping the use of artificial intelligence to promote global justice. In an era of rapid AI evolution, we seize the unique opportunity to leverage this technology to substantially improve lives worldwide, especially in under-resourced communities.

Our mission is to employ AI as a powerful tool to reduce disparities, enhance access to crucial services such as healthcare and education, advance e-governance, broaden access to new skills and job opportunities, enhance distributive justice, and safeguard human rights.

The potential of artificial intelligence is double-edged: it can serve as a force for equality or become a tool of oppression and control, contingent upon our ethical guidance.

The Global Justice AI Initiative invites leaders, researchers, AI developers, policymakers, and experts to engage in pinpointing critical areas that demand attention, ensuring AI is deployed to tackle major global issues. Together, we are committed to developing ethical guidelines and innovative solutions designed to transform lives and communities on an unprecedented scale.
