Parwez Besmel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University. Parwez holds a Ph.D. in Politics and International Affairs. His research focuses on transitional justice, international crimes, the International Criminal Court, foreign aid, and Afghanistan. As a fellow of the Yale Global Justice Program, he conducts research on the International Criminal Court’s investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Afghanistan. The project aims to understand the Afghan scholars and human rights advocates’ vision for accountability and for reconciling the two key goals of transitional justice.
