Paula Casal is a Professor at ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) and at Universitat Pompeu Fabra’s Law Department, in Barcelona. She was a lecturer (and later Reader) at the British universities of Reading, (2004-8), and Keele (1996-2004). She was also Keele Junior Research Fellow and Fellow at Harvard’s Ethics Center (1999-2001), Hoover Fellow at Lovain-la-Neuve (2001-02), Leverhulme Research Fellow at Oxford (2002-3) and Christopher Family Fellow at Stanford (2018). She publishes in journals such as  Ethics, Economics and Philosophy, Hypatia, Journal of Medical Ethics, Journal of Moral Philosophy, Journal of Political Philosophy, Political Studies and Utilitas on social and global justice, multiculturalism, gender, climate change, other species, evolutionism and the distinction between therapy and enhancement. She is associate editor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and Law, Ethics and Philosophy, co-director of the UPF Center for Animal Ethics, and President of The Great Ape Project-Spain.
