President and founder of Asymmetrica, a Latin American business advisory firm, Dr. Vanessa Neumann served as the Official Representative for Interim Venezuelan President Juan Guaidó to the United Kingdom and Ireland, from March 2019 through November 2020. Prior to her diplomatic posting, she served as group leader at the High Level Risk Forum Task Force on Charting Illicit Trafficking at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). As an expert on illicit trafficking and strategies to confront crime-terror pipelines, she has consulted for Interpol and the Asymmetric Warfare Group, and is a regular speaker to the US Departments of State and Defense.

Dr. Neumann received her Ph.D. in moral political philosophy from Columbia University in 2004, under the tutelage of Prof. Thomas Pogge, for her dissertation “The Autonomy and Legitimacy of States: A Critical Approach to Foreign Intervention.” She is also the author of “Blood Profits: How American Consumers Unwittingly Fund Terrorists” (St. Martin’s Press, 2017).
